Aaron Kernan

Aaron Kernan is a Gaelic football player from Crossmaglen, County Armagh, in Ireland. He plays for the local Crossmaglen Rangers club and for the Armagh senior football team.

Early and personal life

Kernan is the son of former Armagh player and manager Joe Kernan, his brothers Stephen, Tony and Paul are also Crossmaglen and Armagh panel members, and their younger brother Ross plays for Crossmaglen also.

Playing career

In 2005, Kernan made the breakthrough into the Armagh senior team, with his father Joe as manager.[1] In 2005 Armagh won the National Football League and the Ulster Senior Football Championship. Aaron was named All Stars Young Footballer of the Year.[1]

Since then, Kernan has won the Ulster Senior Football Championship with Armagh in 2006 and 2008 as has emerged as one of their top defenders.[2] He was selected for the Ireland team to play in the 2008 International Rules Series.[3] Aaron has also had great success with his club team Crossmaglen Rangers. He has won 8 Armagh County medals, 5 Ulster club medals and 2 All-Ireland club medal in 2007,2011 he received Man of the Match for his performancce in the match. Aaron has won ulster championship 4 times 2004,2005,2006,2008 and a ulster under 21 championship in 2004 an an a all ireland under 21 in 2004.
